Yoga Workshop Benefits Boys and Girls Club

Karla Booth, a certified senior teacher of the Alexander Technique and yoga instructor in Westchester, will kick off a series of fundraisers for the local community with a Gentle and Restorative Yoga Workshop from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on April 11. Proceeds from the Zoom workshop will support the Boys and Girls Club of Mount Kisco, whose Youth of the Year program is a year-round tool for fostering character, personal growth, and leadership qualities in young people.

The class is offered by donation, in any amount. As part of the fundraiser, those who take the class will be invited to the online Youth of the Year celebration, where they can hear participants speak about the program and their community service. Donations can also be made to fund the Boys and Girls Club’s general programming.

According to Booth, her Gentle and Restorative Yoga Workshop is designed for everyone—no yoga experience necessary.

“This deeply relaxing and comforting yoga practice is all on the floor in completely supported positions, using blankets and pillows,” she says. “With guidance and direction, you can allow your body to unwind and let go of tension, which frees the breathing and leads to greater ease. No special equipment is needed.” The workshop is hosted by the Life Energy Arts Gallery.
