Rejuvenated Skin- Just in Time for the Holidays
Now is the time to rejuvenate your skin for the Holidays
You’ve gone to the beach, you’ve lounged in the sun, you’ve enjoyed your summer— but how has your skin weathered the season? If you’re like most people, your fine lines might be a little more pronounced, your complexion a bit blotchy or discolored, or maybe you’ve gained a few extra freckles. Can the damage be reversed? Dr. Boneva says— yes, it can.Beyond the obvious (repairing last years skin damage), why do you recommend that people begin skin treatments in the fall?
This is a wonderful time of year to begin light-based and aesthetic laser treatment. Recovery involves avoiding or protecting yourself from sunlight, so with fewer hours of sun the conditions are more optimal for achieving great results. How do the advanced laser treatments you’ve pioneered work?
To understand why my approach to skin resurfacing is so effective, one needs to understand how the skin functions. Epidermal cells are anchored together in two ways: microscopic fibers called tonofilaments run between individual cells, helping to hold them together and an extracellular substance that surrounds each cell acts as a sort of glue to further keep things together. Over time, these cells are invisibly shed through the body’s natural means of exfoliation. Speeding this process up can instantly restore a more youthful glow to the skin and address other subtle signs of the aging process. My latest procedure consists of three stages:
- Vibradermabrasion:breaks the tonofilaments
- Deep Chemical Peel: dissolves the “glue”
- IPL Skin Rejuvenation: penetrates deep into the epidermis, boosting collagen production and in turn providing a faster, healthier and complete healing of the recovering new skin.
What can clients realistically expect to achieve with this three-step approach to skin rejuvenation?
Realistically, this approach can address a wide variety of issues—redness and discoloration, liver spots and freckles, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores and excessive shine in the T-zone, etc. My Skin Resurfacing procedure can improve all of these issues, or even eliminate them. To achieve visible improvement by springtime, I would recommend beginning treatment as soon as possible.
