I can't believe our two boys just ended their winter break from college. It's the first time they shared the same time off in two years. Talk about having a full heart! It's like having an early Valentine's gift.

Happy 2024! Well, here we are, another year and another opportunity to seize the moments we may have overlooked last year. I often look back and think about things I "should have done" rather than what I did!

What's not to love about learning? It's not just for our kids, and as the adage says, "You're never too old to learn something new." As a society, we’re living longer, and with that comes the opportunity to explore interests we may have needed more time for in our youth.

How on earth can it possibly be June already? Every time I blink, we're into the next month. A moment ago we’re celebrating Mother’s Day and now we’re filled with anticipation for summer, Father's Day, and the end of another school year for the boys.

Welcome to May, the month devoted to mom. If yours is still with you, rejoice and celebrate. In my house, I’ve always told my boys, tongue in cheek, that every day is Mother's Day because every day I think about them, and I always make myself available when they are in need.

Spring has sprung, and the older I get, each season appears faster than the last. Where does the time go, and why does it seem so fleeting after the fact rather than when we’re in it? Contemplating this, I’m reminded of a trip to the grocery store when our firstborn was just 10 months old.

How we eat has evolved over the years. Whenever science completes research on nutrition, disease and overall health, humans tend to embrace whatever new trend emerges as a result. Trying to figure out what’s in and what’s not, what we should or shouldn’t eat, is a maddening

A new year, a new you; we’ve heard this adage year after year along with a multitude of other resolutions, many of which don’t stick. Rather than the same old same old, why not approach the word “new” in a different light?

It’s here—December. At every turn, holiday decorations and uplifting music tell us it’s the season of joy and celebration. But for some, its an unbearably challenging time of the year.

My birth month has arrived! As a kid, I loved having a summer birthday because my family would typically go away for two glorious weeks in Cape Cod. There was nothing better than clambakes on the beach, flying a kite, listening to bands on the green,

I enjoy sugar. I grew up with a father who ended every dinner with dessert; it’s all I knew. Unfortunately, he also enjoyed soda, lots of it, and my siblings and I drank it like water.

Over the years, Michael and I have spent Thanksgiving in many different ways. Sometimes we host extended family and I cook, or we head off to a hotel, or I cook for our own family of four. But we took it to the next level in 2019

This month’s letter is a hard one for me. Our oldest will head off to college by the end of August, and all I’ve been doing for months is acquiring, little by little, the things he may need for his dorm and day-to-day life. I have a pile building up in the corner of our bedroom, and each time I add to it I feel sadness.

Food, glorious food! Every “body” needs and craves it. We base our life around it: What’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? My father was always asking what the next meal would be before he even finished the one he was enjoying.

When I was in my 20s, my roommate was a vegetarian. At the time I could not imagine life without meat. I was raised on meat, potatoes and a side salad. Emphasis on the “side”—vegetables were not the star of the show.
