Long Island Centers Offer Steam Ozone Therapy
If “steam cleaning” works on our clothes and our carpets, why can’t it work on our bodies too? Human technology is obviously far more sophisticated, but using steam to flush out deep-seated contaminants is part of the concept behind steam sauna ozone therapy, says Vanessa Galati-Drew, owner of Cleansing Concepts, a detoxification facility with two Long Island locations.
The other part is ozone, an activated form of oxygen. Ozone sauna therapy uses medical-grade ozone to increase oxygen to the cells, which need it to fuel the chemical reactions that generate energy, make new cells and rid the body of toxins, Galati-Drew says. These important cellular functions can be impaired by any number of factors that decrease the body’s oxygen supply, such as shallow breathing, poor posture, lack of exercise, poor nutrition or exposure to pollution.
“Steam sauna ozone therapy is one of the most comforting forms of ozone therapy,” she says. “It helps restore your body’s natural balance to heal itself by combining the beneficial oxygenation and detoxification effects of ozone and a steam sauna.” Other benefits include boosting the metabolism, stimulating the immune system, relieving pain and speeding healing from injury and infection, she says.
Cleansing Concepts offers private steam sauna ozone therapy sessions for people ages 12 and up. (Those under 18 need parental permission.) Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes, including a cooldown.
