Dr. Somesh Kaushik is offering certification courses in Ayurveda starting March 2020.

Certification will be awarded by NAMACB, the National Ayurvedic Medical Association

Certification Board, and include certificates in Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) and Ayurvedic

Practioner (AP).

“An AHC is a professional trained to focus on preventive healthcare and health promotion with

specific focus on diet and lifestyle through traditional Ayurvedic principles and practices. The AP

is a professional with additional training in pathology and disease management beyond that of

the Ayurvedic Health Counselor.” (NAMA)

Curriculum will consist of lectures, clinical practicum, self-study, and case reports. Travel to

India to participate in health clinics will be part of the clinical practicum for the AP.

NAMA certification includes four areas of concentration:

● Foundations of Ayurveda: History and Philosophy

● Concepts of Ayurveda

● Skills and competencies

● Recommendations, treatment, and other interventions

These programs are for those who would like to deepen their knowledge of health for their

own, and their family’s well-being, and for those who wish to pursue Ayurveda, the world’s

oldest healing system, as a profession.

Dr. Kaushik has been practicing Ayurveda for over 35 years. He is a trained Ayurvedic Physician

(B.A.M.S.) from Kurukshetra University, India; N.D. from University of Bridgeport, CT, and

M.P.H. and M.P.A. from University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has taught Ayurvedic

medicine at the Graduate Institute, University of Bridgeport, and National University of Natural

Medicine, and lectures about Ayurveda throughout the U.S. He recently founded the

Institute for the Advancement of Ayurvedic Sciences, a research and teaching institution.
