Uplifting Humanity Begins with Man in the Mirror

That’s a promising phrase—but how is it accomplished? Since humanity consists of individuals that make up groups, and those groups in total are mankind, “uplifting humanity” must start with the individual.
The first way to uplift the individual is to ensure his or her physical well-being. Can we do that with our current healthcare system? President Obama fought to provide health care for all, but he did not see all the pitfalls of our profit-driven healthcare system. He tried to appeal to the masses but trying to force a system that provides health care to everyone severely hurts the individual. It takes away their responsibility for their own health and places that responsibility on someone else's shoulders. Last I looked, despite our innovations in medical science, the U.S. healthcare system ranks only 26th in the world.
Uplifting humanity also involves education and getting people to give up their vested interests and fixed ideas and support plans or policies that promote the greatest good for all, not just the ones promoted by a certain political party.
Most of all, uplifting humanity starts with the man in the mirror and asking him to change his ways!
