Green Tea

It’s no longer a secret. It has become a well-established fact that green tea is good for your health. Twenty years ago, I went to China and obtained the rights to a traditional Chinese formula that was primarily green tea, but with other herbs to balance the yin and yang. This is very important—a balanced formula will help maintain the body’s yin/yang balance. A balanced body is required for good health. The high level of antioxidants from the herbs in the formula may very well be what gives this formula its balance.

It is only recently that the health care community began advertising on national television, stressing the importance of antioxidants. It’s great to realize that the message from the supplement industry about antioxidants is finally getting the exposure that the public needs. It’s frightening to see the problems that legal drugs can cause.

Watch the next TV ad marketing drugs and you will hear of the myriad side effects which could wreak havoc if these drugs are introduced into our bodies. What I’m stressing is when you keep your body in proper balance, you may not need drugs in the attempt to regain your good health—it will not go out of balance in the first place.

Let’s go back to green tea. There has been so much written about what the components in green tea can do for your health. Most prevalent is the fact that free radicals are efficiently neutralized by these compounds, especially epigallocatechin gallate, which is much easier to remember as EGCG. It is the most studied polyphenol and perhaps the most powerful of all antioxidants. Comparison studies have shown that polyphenols are close to 40 times more effective than Vitamins C and E. Also of importance is that the polyphenols in green tea help maintain a strong immune system.

Green tea may help prevent the oxidation of cholesterol and triglycerides. I believe that everyone understands this fact, and that controlling this buildup can help maintain good arterial health and a healthy cardiovascular system. How does green tea do this? Again, the polyphenols stop free radicals from accumulating in the arteries. I don’t understand why everyone waits until there is a serious problem before they start thinking about ways to improve their health. There are many supplements available to help maintain good health. Green tea is only one of them, but one I consider the most important and most helpful.

Another area that green tea can be beneficial is weight control. If you get in the habit of having green tea either immediately before or after your meal, you can get a handle on maintaining or even losing weight. How is this so? Again, the polyphenols in the green tea actually block the carbohydrates from converting to fat and allow them to pass through to the colon and ultimately out of the body. Just this simple change in your lifestyle can be a boon in the quest to control weight.

We have established that it is important that you maintain a high level of antioxidants in your body. That’s why HerbaSway introduced HerbaGreen Tea more than 20 years ago. By the way, HerbaGreen Tea is a liquid concentrate and that is the most efficient way your body can assimilate this high level of antioxidants.
