SEA Paddle NYC- Charity Paddle Set for August 11

SEA_paddle_2014_logo-smallCreated in 2007, the 25-mile paddle around Manhattan is one of the premier standup paddleboarding (SUP) and prone paddle events worldwide and is an internationally renowned charity event. SEA Paddle NYC serves as the Surfers’ Environmental Alliance’s primary fundraiser. Through paddler fundraising, corporate sponsorship and ancillary events, it has raised more than $1.8 million for environmental preservation and numerous autism non-profits. The event was recently honored as the “2013 SUP Awards Top Philanthropic Effort” by SUP magazine.

SEA Paddle NYC is a World Paddle Association-sanctioned specialty event, which has attracted surfers, standup paddlers and watermen from all corners of the globe. Paddlers come for the one-of-a-kind physical challenge, the beauty of Manhattan, and the camaraderie in paddling for a cause.

The 25-mile journey begins under the Brooklyn Bridge on August 11. Paddlers will then head north up the East River, into the Harlem River, then down the Hudson River, finishing at Chelsea Piers Marina.

To ensure the success of SEA Paddle NYC, every paddler is expected to raise a minimum of $1,000. Show your support by donating directly to a paddler or team, or by making a general donation. In addition to donations, volunteers—that do everything from assisting paddlers to handing out swag bags—are also needed.
